Have you ever tried to bargain with God hoping to gain some advantageous results? Well, if you have, you probably should know that we have nothing to bargain with God. We have absolutely nothing to offer God that He needs.
In fact, we are beggars of His grace. The Bible tells us, "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith - and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God" (Ephesians 2:8, NIV). Which means God has graciously given us the gift of salvation, yet we feel obligated to try to work our way to God.
Any idea that we can earn or deserve salvation is forever exploded by the words in verse 8, "and this is not from yourselves". Dead people can do nothing, and sinners deserve nothing but punishment.
But it doesn't mean that that we can't talk to Him or direct our requests to Him. We can and we should ask questions and bring our cares, doubts and struggles to Him. God is never discouraged by our questions. However, we need to fight through our problems at His feet.
Blessings!
