Be Like a Child

Have a great Vacation Bible School Week!
Have a great Vacation Bible School Week!

This week, my church celebrates Jesus Christ and our Youth through our Vacation Bible School. Our theme is B.I.B.L.E. (Blessings Inspiring Believers to Live Eternally). It is our gentle and constant reminder that in order to receive the kingdom of God like a child is to embrace a profound and unwavering faith that reflects the pure and unblemished trust characteristic of childhood. Jesus doesn't merely invite us to adopt a child-like belief; He calls us to undergo a transformative process that requires us to genuinely change our perspectives and attitudes, becoming like children in our approach to faith and spirituality. This transformation implies a kind of backwards growth process, where we willingly relinquish the certainties and complexities that often accompany adulthood—such as our achievements, our societal status, and the intricate paths we have carved out for ourselves.

In doing so, we make a conscious choice to prioritize one singular certainty above all else: our relationship with Jesus Christ. Being a child in the context of faith means acknowledging our smallness and vulnerability before Christ, recognizing that we are dependent on Him for guidance, wisdom, and strength. It is about cultivating a sense of humility, where we set aside our pride and ego, allowing ourselves to be open to learning and receiving His teachings. This child-like approach invites us to live with a sense of wonder and amazement in His presence, embracing the simplicity and beauty of faith without the burdens of doubt and skepticism that often plague adult minds.

Furthermore, to embody this child-like faith is to approach God with a heart full of innocence and curiosity, ready to explore the depths of His love and grace. It encourages us to ask questions, seek understanding, and engage with the mysteries of faith without fear of judgment. In this state of openness, we can experience the joy and peace that comes from trusting in God's plan, even when it is beyond our comprehension. Ultimately, receiving the kingdom of God like a child is an invitation to rediscover the joy of faith, to embrace a life marked by trust, humility, and a sense of awe at the divine. It challenges us to let go of the burdens of adulthood and to find solace in the simplicity of a child-like heart, fully devoted to the love and teachings of Jesus Christ.

Rejoice and enjoy the blessings of the Lord!
