Fortunate to Be Last

sredeemed

When reflecting on the concept of winning and losing, it is often emphasized that the manner in which one competes holds greater significance than the outcome itself. However, the aversion to being in the last position is a sentiment shared by many.

Being at the bottom of a competition is not generally viewed favorably, as it is not a position that most aspire to occupy. Yet, there exists a unique perspective embodied by Jesus, who defies conventional expectations. Jesus, unlike many, does not shy away from being last. In fact, he finds comfort and purpose in that very position.

His affinity for those who are considered losers by societal standards is a testament to his compassion and inclusivity. Jesus extends his hand to those at the bottom, lifting them up and carrying them with unwavering love and support. In the eyes of Jesus, the traditional notions of first and last place hold little significance.

His willingness to embrace those who are often overlooked or deemed unworthy serves as a profound reminder of the inherent value and worth of every individual. Through his actions, Jesus exemplifies a message of hope and redemption, offering solace to those who feel marginalized or defeated. In the grand scheme of things, there is a place reserved for each and every one of us in the compassionate embrace of Jesus.

"So the last will be first, and the first will be last" (Matthew 20:16, NIV).
